An Important Message Regarding Haiti

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced the designation of Haiti for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). This will benefit many Haitian nationals in this country who may now be eligible to remain lawfully in the United States and to obtain authorization to work.

To qualify applicants must register within the 180 day registration period which is expected to commence this week. Additionally, documentation such as a passport, birth certificate, and affidavits, all of which must be translated into English, must accompany the application. Fee waivers may be granted in some situations.
